390TB video game archive being taken offline due to skyrocketing RAM, SSD, and hard drive prices — AI-driven supply squeeze results in closure of one of the largest online video game archives

Myrient, one of the largest online video game archives, has announced that it will shut down on March 31, 2026. According to the archive’s official Telegram page, it’s closing the service due to insufficient funding, rising costs, and abusive download managers. Aside from that, RAM, SSD, and HDD prices have been steadily rising due to the AI infrastructure build-out, resulting in higher hosting expenses for Myrient as well. We’ve actually seen this with German data center giant Hetzner, which is hiking prices up to 37% starting April 1. What made it one of the largest repositories of classic games was that anyone was free to upload content the website needed, meaning Myrient could list a game it needed to copy for safekeeping. 🖊️️🤖

I spent 2.5 years coding this game.

I’ve spent 6 months just trying to tell people it exists.

Marketing is a different kind of hard. Coding has logic. Clear inputs, clear outputs. Marketing? It’s storytelling, psychology, timing, luck — and most of it feels like shouting into a void.

There’s a new Overwatch game in development

Blizzard has announced a new mobile Overwatch game called Overwatch Rush. It’s a top-down reinterpretation of the hero shooter built especially for mobile players and it’s in development at Blizzard, made by a team separate from the Overwatch team, Blizzard said in a blog post. Despite the MOBA-like presentation and slow gameplay speed, the essence of a hectic Overwatch team fight is still there. Blizzard described the game’s development as being “early days” still, and the only indication of a release date was word it was preparing to test Overwatch Rush in “select countries”. Perhaps associations with a mobile game risked jeopardising goodwill generated by that. 🖊️️🤖
