Esoteric Ebb has a quest reward that makes you slightly less confused about gender. The tl;dr version of that very long text is “Be kind to all”.

And then you can chose between getting a bonus when speaking to either male characters or female characters.

I like this game very much. Highly recommend it.

PS: I am playing as The Cleric

A 2000 years old sphynx lady called me a dog because of my servile nature. My response was to *woof* and that amused her.

This game has amazing dialog options. Every hour that I play I fall more in love with it.

Esoteric Ebb has some of the best gender discourse I’ve seen in some time (ever ?) in a videogame. Hell, it’s even embedded in its setting and you can have a whole discussion about it with a magic scholar. The take is pretty cool.

I’m about 80% of the way through my first playthrough - game’s amazing! Best D&D game still Baldur’s Gate 3, amazing writing, dialogues are flavorful - internal ones particularly… Music’s good, art style is retro and cool, lore is dense and awesome, LOVE it so far.

Esoteric Ebb, is the game’s name, btw

If you’ve played Disco Elysium, it’s a whole lot like that. But fantasy.

Well, you always start as a cleric, i.e. you clearly have cleric abilities. The other options are more like “cleric is a really versatile class and I choose to be a little delusional about it”. Fun character concept, though.
