New Scream, new Scary Movie. Checks out.
Although I’m still of the opinion that Scream is already a parody and thus shouldn’t be parodied.
I keep telling people that the Scream movies are not horror movies. They’re murder mysteries making fun of horror tropes. But haven’t seen any since the 3rd. They may be different now.
The most recent one leaned super heavy into the meta commentary. Definitely still a parody.
if the comedy shown in that trailer was the highlights, i think i’ll pass.
…I mean that they/them joke’s been done so many times there’s a community devoted to spotting them. then it undoes the punch to republicans with the racist joke by saying everyone’s racist, which has also been done/it was a whole Avenue Q number.
then again i’m dead inside and haven’t been laughing at a lot of comedies these days, so this is probably a me problem. I thought Naked Gun was alright tho.
There was no punch to Republicans. It’s a defensive line supporting them. “Which I guess means I’m supposed to be racist now” is bullshit language directed at people who call out racism, not an admission of any kind. Both jokes were right-wing jokes.
Saw a fucking pronouns joke in one of the trailers. What the actual fuck lol
Jeez, they’re certainly covering their bases with all the horror movies released since the last one.
Aside from the shitty reactionary politics (yay, Paramount!), this just looks dreadfully unfunny
