Ok, I can get sort of disagreeing the wildfires are from climate change - that’s a couple of logical steps you have to make. But “It’s not causing anyone to cough” is plainly ludicrous. It was making me cough when I went outside.

“It doesn’t smell bad”? Maybe they have COVID and lost their sense of smell altogether? It certainly smelled bad to me. And if you thought it smelled great - wow. I just don’t ever want to be around you if you like those sorts of smells. I can’t see it actually working with anyone who’s ever been in wildfire smoke before - like you don’t need science or education or anything to notice if it makes you cough, or tell something doesn’t smell great.

I think I may not have been clear there. I think climate change is making wildfires worse. I also think that the science is pretty clear on that - even at a like 6th grade level - warmer with less rain so dryer more often and longer == more fire risk.

My reference to not making a “couple of logical steps” is that I’ve been sadly inured to large masses of people who are either effectively conspiracy theorists and only believe things they can “see” themselves, or are just so effectively uneducated that they don’t have a coherent worldview at all. Again, that leads me to think - can a 5 year old understand this link? If so, then I have (had?) some hope it wouldn’t be a partisan divide. But if you literally “don’t believe my lying eyes and lungs” - then if you’re not pushing disinformation and actually are one of the people being mislead - I don’t know what would possibly work as proof of anything to you in contradiction to the echo chamber’s beliefs you’re currently in.
