    I suppose they work in some racing cars, but otherwise they’re a bad idea. Which is why most cars don’t have them.

    Tesla, I suspect mostly because of little-boy Elon, has made some stupid design choices based on what a few people think is cool, without regard to safety. The steering wheel, the tablet-only interface, the retracting door handles, etc.

    The laws haven’t kept up, but that’s always the case. It’s good to see stupid ideas with real-world safety implications being shot down. I know the much bigger reason is to punish Tesla and promote BYD, but they aren’t wrong to ban half-steering wheels, regardless of motivation.

      There’s a lot of things with Tesla where I feel like decisions were made by someone who doesn’t actually drive or enjoy driving.
