Waste in this instance is referring to old discarded items (like pennies, pull-tabs, etc) that become embedded in rock formations, not biological waste.
yeah I know but poop is the first thing that comes to mind when I read human waste. Also looking a piles of garbage doesn’t exactly stimulate the appetite either :>
