Um, aren’t ice “agents” pretty much entirely reliant on their guns, which they would never be allowed to carry in Italy? Should the headline not just say “outcry in Italy as US says racist hillbillies will join Olympics delegation”.

What exactly is the rationale for deploying US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to other countries? Will they be doing immigration and customs enforcement for Italy?

Ffs, they’re not trying to hide the fact that they’re building a paramilitary force loyal to MAGA.

Uh, why are immigration enforcement agents protecting people abroad? That doesn’t make any sense unless they are a political police, like the gestapo 🤌

Would you let the brown shirts into your country? If the answer is no, then grow a spine and say NO TO FASCISM. Don’t even let it on your soil or breath your air.

Imagine the USA getting kicked out of the Olympics.

Not even the fucking Nazis got kicked out of the Olympics.

If American athletes have any self-respect, they’d sit out in protest.

Unfortunately sports is too intertwined with big money. It’s unlikely to happen.

It must be tough to spend so long training, to get to a peak of your skill and then feel the pressure of not partaking, not getting a shot at gold, because it clashes with ethics.

But I suppose the truth is to persue something like this in the first place you had to do a deal with corporate sponsorship so that’s that.

I am not trying to say years of training overrides ethics, just that it will be a tough choice for a lot, they are only human, trying to do something extraordinary. We continually tell people shoot for the stars.

I’m not trying to make excuses. I do believe we all have choices and I like to sleep at night knowing I feel like I chose empathy over money, power or achievement. But it’s gonna be a call a lot are gonna have to start making soon. They probs did not factors this in 5/10 years ago when they just too up athletics.

In every moment we have a choice, and it’s always worth hoping that with knowing better we will do better.

Is this the du (disunited states) forcing other countries to comply with du security practices and procedures?
