Nanaimo city councillors call the Canadian Energy Centre’s political campaign to reverse their decision to phase out natural gas hookups an "outrageous" attack on the democratic process.
Critics dismiss FortisBC’s renewable gas strategy, noting the fuel made out of methane captured from sewage and landfills is still 80 times more potent than carbon dioxide over a 20-year span if it escapes into the atmosphere.
I don’t follow this argument; they’re capturing and burning methane that would otherwise be released directly into the atmosphere.
To me the weak point is that they’ll never make it a significant part of their offering, not that they’re attempting to do it at all.
And Alberta: stay out of BC politics unless you want BC to return the favour.
