My son dropped his Switch Lite in the toilet and the battery life seems worse than before. I’m thinking of doing the replacement myself but I’m curious how hard it is or if there are gotchas. I’ve replaced “non-replacable” batteries in phones before and I usually break some plastic tabs or (one time) pierce the battery. I’m totally fine taking it to a shop if it’s moderate to hard.
I replaced a Switch Lite battery and the hardest part was being patient with the tape Nintendo uses to secure the battery in the chassis. The double sided tape they use is incredibly sticky and if you yank the battery out you could definitely break something. Better to use some heat from a hair dryer and slowly pry the battery out with a plastic pry bar like a trim removal tool.

Note: This procedure requires removing the shield plate, which is bonded to the heat sink with thermal paste. The thermal paste will need to be cleaned off and reapplied before reinstalling the shield plate.
