I thought this was adhd/ add memes for a second. We don’t get positive stimulus when we finish a task. Might wanna get checked.
Damn. I didn’t realize it wasn’t c\adhd till I saw your comment.
Because you’re not really “done” - there’s always something else you have to do next, and that’s the fact which drains the euphoria out of me. If I could be "DONE” with most all responsibilities and have the time, energy, and ability to do virtually anything I felt like as I could when I was a kid, then I’d be happy as a pig in shit.
It’s why I’m not competitive, it’s only negative for me.
If I “win” it’s like: ok cool, I finished.
If I lose it’s like: of course you lost you’re worthless and suck at everything.
Did it give you something you wanted or avoid something you didn’t want?
Maybe they are almost the same thing?
That’s not toxic though. Enjoying the completion of a project has to be some kind of wagie cope. Being proud of oneself for something one has just done strikes me as pretty backwards looking. The reward for completing a project is getting to start a different project. Always forward. The past cannot be changed and the future doesn’t exist.
