Having never actually been abroad, I know what I know based on immense amounts of various conversations I’ve had with people all over the world in several languages - learning that, despite all the differences, we’re all largely similar on very important ways, is a very humbling, wholesome, and eye-opening experience. Also usually makes you much more resistant to all the exploitation posing as some “Do it for your country!” crap.
