In Ontario, children do not need to be legally registered for school until they are 6 years old. I know many people, during Covid, who kept their JK aged children in preschool (older kid room), as they had to confirm their enrollment for the fall even before schools told parents if they would even reopen. Preschools also had much safer restrictions at that time, than the schools did, so many parents just felt safer keeping their kids in preschool, as it is the same play based learning they were getting in JK. The children then went to school in SK as their first year and did not suffer socially or educationally.
That being said, L has not been socialized in any “normal” way for a child her age and if they do not enroll her until she is 6, I’m sure the effects will be felt. I’m sure it will be apparent even if they do enroll her for JK. They are constantly doing this child a disservice for their convenience.
