Yes it has, the only difference now is that they stopped hiding it. Does anyone honestly believe that a country founded by people ok with slaves, oppression of women and the genocide of the native population were not also into some corrupt shit? Fuck there was bribery in the first election and everyone since.

One has to go back to Eisenhower to find a president that wasn’t a corrupt piece of shit and that in no way absolves Eisenhower for the shit he pulled.

He took money for political positions that resulted in Reagan getting elected. He undermined his own “liberal” policies by literally fighting against Congress and treating them like crap when even the most basic human decency would have saved him a boatload of grief and resulted in actual leftist progress…

Pro-deregulation, monetary policies that favored the wealthy and double digit inflation/interest rates.

See I thought deregulation started under reagan but it seems like the inflation and interest rates had to do with the times. Like the energy crisis. Honestly im looking at his deregulation now and what was done with beer brewing and airlines is the rare type of deregulation I can approve of.

If this is what they’ve stopped hiding, imagine what they’re still hiding.

Yes, shit has never been perfect, but using a “whataboutism” defense to compare the current situation to the past is only working to normalize what’s happening now.

      THIS. IS. NOT. NORMAL.

Eisenhower helped shape the conventionalization of nuclear weapons

"According to the State Department history, on the same day that Eisenhower met with White House reporters in the Executive Office Building, Lewis Strauss, chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, “informed [White House press secretary James] Hagerty that Dulles had checked with him before making this statement and that ‘he [Strauss] was all for it.’ Strauss reportedly told Hagerty that ‘we wanted to show our enemies [the mainland Chinese] that we now deal with A-bombs as conventional weapons.’”

Saying you would do it for political posturing and firing your top General who actually wanted to do it are two different things.

That title is a joke on how poorly educated Americans are.

First, massacre natives to grab land. Second, massacre own citizens to build railroads. Third, massacre each other over keeping slaves or industrialize and keep poorly paid workers in inhuman conditions. And that just in the first century or so.

I’d say it would be more appropriate to say it’s never seen corruption like this since the last time everyone forgot about corruption like this.

That’s not the definition of corruption. A leader ordering horrors for the benefit of their own people is normal throughout history.

Corruption is when leaders do it for personal profit. For example Andrew Jackson killed Native Americans and opposed the Second Bank of the US but he didn’t create his own currency like Trump crypto.
