Seriously, though, what are your favorites and why? I like that particular version of Kraid’s Lair because it’s so bombastic. The way it sounds, I can easily imagine that an instrumental version would feature both organs and electric guitars, which is an awesome combo.

That’s a tough one!
I probably go with Skytown, I like to listen to it when I feel like relaxing. It’s rather unique for the series as it doesn’t have a melancholic vibe like the usual song in these games (even though the area itself has a tragic lore).
Super Metroid- Brinstar (Red Soil) I love the dark slow drive of this song. It’s haunting and beautiful at the same time. They also reused part of it in Dread and I got so excited to hear the new rendition.

Apart from that one, it’s probably Serris/Yakuza and Nightmare from Fusion
I just really like Metroid 1 Brinstar. And Tallon IV overworld first theme that’s a remix of it.
Metroid Planets, the fanmade Metroid 1 remake that includes a room editor and a great random map generator, has a chiptune-ified Tallon Overworld theme that sounds very cool.
