    Honestly, France’s historically independent stance on defense policy - the foundation of which is based on de Gaulle’s skepticism of the nature of US support all the way back to the late 40s - has always struck me as extremely pragmatic and farsighted. The benefit of that sort of strategic thinking is becoming extremely obvious nowadays.

    Yeah, that’s what fighting a major war for a couple of years will do to you. Basically any army coming out if a long time of peace will have a very rude awakening once the shit really hits the fan.

    I really wish Australia had way deeper integration into the GUR, it’s quite clear they are innovating and expanding way faster than we are simply because they need to
