    TBF, established social norms often discourage being explicit about what you want, especially when it comes to flirting/dating/romance. e.g. just not taking ‘no’ for an answer is a huge trope (that’s usually portrayed as good, romantic etc. when it’s the male lead doing it) in romance movies.

    Definitely something that should be changed (and is already changing), tho.

      to me this is entirely separate than the conversation around externally objectifying people and their consent but your conclusion is valid so i am glad you got there

    Just to clarify though:

    Consent is important for, say, sexual interactions of any sort, but I can objectify anyone I want in my head.

      yes i believe it’s almost certain that both OOP and the responder refers to external objectification not internal because if not that would make both this whole post pointless for both of them haha
