TLDR - I made this community because I’m following the eating pattern, and I wanted a place to talk about it.

There are at least 75 Plant Based communities on Lemmy - There is 1 Animal Based community (this is it)

There are probably 10 people who participate in the previous Carnivore community. We are a tiny group. But even tiny groups need a place to talk amongst themselves.

In my life I did SAD, Vegan, totally given up, Keto, and finally Carnivore.

Carnivore has been the single best thing I’ve ever done in my life, it has had the greatest impact on my health of anything I’ve ever done. I WANT to talk about it. I WANT to find it’s limits. I’m excited that I’ve discovered this “secret” to modern life that eluded me for so long. I feel like I’ve been robbed of my youth by poor nutritional information.

This community is a place to experience Carnivore - The good and the bad. I’m not perfect, at all, I have problems, I cheat, I fall out sometimes… That struggle is real life. Having a real space to speak of struggle is important, even if no one is listening - screaming into the void.

Has Carnivore solved nutrition? No, probably not. At least 50% of what I know is probably wrong, or incomplete enough to be wrong… I just don’t know which 50%. I only care about outcomes, results. I don’t have a philosophy or identity tied to my food. I’m lazy, if i could skip eating all together I would.

All of the above is why I created this community. This is also why I defend this community, so others can feel encouraged and safe expressing themselves. I know most people don’t agree with Carnivore, hell I KNOW its crazy - I thought it was crazy too, before I tried it. I don’t expect anyone to like Carnivore at all, I don’t care what other people eat. Nobody is “Wrong” for eating what they like. I’m all about informed decisions, I’m going to present the best data I have, engage in the earnest exchange of ideas here in this community, and I respect people’s choices - even if I dont agree with them.

This is also why I’m not too bothered by the people who hate this community. It’s not for them.

If the votes on the internet don’t matter - then the downvote brigade shouldn’t care they are excluded

If the votes on the internet do matter - then the downvote brigade is being acknowledged that they don’t like this, and are being given their free time back when they are uninvited from the community.

Hi, I needed another login as aussie.zone doesn’t see dubvee.org well. I’ll mostly be here on this account (I need an alt anyway as aussie.zone is unreliable and my previous alt was on lemm.ee)

        ok, added you.

Aussie Zone doesn’t federate with dubvee?

oh - wow, you were not joking https://aussie.zone/c/[email protected]

I think I know the problem. Aussie.zone doesn’t appear to be on lemmy-federate so it didn’t pick up the community two days ago when I created it.

It’s federated, but I only see posts and comments after I joined

I may have double voted the most recent post as I can see that one on aussie.zone

I think it only synchronised with instances that have a Aussie member in a community. Maybe a data saving effort, data can be expensive in Australia

I have a very diverse diet that has served me well, so I’m not here to be converted to this diet or anything, but I like to be exposed to different ways of thinking about food. Challenging assumptions and norms is healthy, and though I can understand why some might be skeptical about a community like this in this day and age and in this climate, it seems like you’ve given that a lot of thought, and just want a space to talk about how you eat. Nothing wrong with that!

And I’m always happy to learn how to make a better steak, so hopefully there will be some of that kind of content too.

Lots of wonderful chefs here on lemmy!

At the core of Carnivore is keto - so the big assumption to challenge is people’s relationship with sugar and carbohydrates and how that impacts metabolic syndrome (diabetes, obesity, hypertension, etc) - A billion people have type 2 diabetes - which is a direct result of overconsumption of carbohydrates.

Happy to talk about any concerns or questions you have about nutrition or metabolism, I’ll do my best!

I didn’t read any of that, but damn did I have a good steak the other day. It was peppercorn New York style, and well-done to boot, just the way I likes it. It came with some carmalized oyster mushrooms and some motherfucking mashed potatoes. Skin in. Don’t get me started on the gravy. Like manna from heaven, you get me? And don’t you think I didn’t fill up on free bread, so I had leftovers to bring home for the next day. In this economy, you pretty much have to. I even saved the fat for my next mofuckin’ bone broth, and hells yeah it gonna be good.
