Is that legal? To be fair I haven’t watched much Doctor Who, let alone in a decade. And let’s be honest, anything goes, but a companion turned doctor??

Capaldi wasn’t a companion, but he was a character in the show who traveled in the Tardis when the Doctor saved him and his family from Pompeii, and they did make it a plot point (that was then promptly forgotten).

If I’m not mistaken, it was a plot point with Capaldi that the regenerated forms are/can be modeled after others? I believe he subconsciously chose that form as a sort of reminder to himself. I can imagine the same sort of logic with Rose.

Yeah, he kept asking himself “why this face” like he was subconsciously trying to tell himself something. But then they just dropped the whole plot thread and didn’t bring it up again.

The tough part with Billie Piper is that she would be the Doctor, but not Rose. She’d have to act like the Doctor, and that would be strange. Like the DoctorDonna, shit got confusing.

It did get an answer in the Ashildr episode (I loved that scene), and that started him on another cycle of saying screw the rules I’m above the law, which (clunkily) led to the hybrid prophecy resolution.

I know right. I’m extremely out of the loop with Doctor Who, but I’m sure that’s not how it works.

But hey, Billie Piper is awesome so whatever works for them.

The 50th anniversary had Tom Baker make a cameo as a future incarnation straight up telling 11 that he might “revisit some old favorite (faces)”, then 12 subconsciously chose a face from someone he met in one of 10’s episodes, and then 14 took 10’s face again for a few episodes. So yes, they explicitly opened the gates for a previous actor of a different character to pick up the role (and even a former Doctor). I think there have also been some rumors coming and going about Jenna a couple times, ever since Clara pretended to be the Doctor in a couple of episodes.

Doctor Who needs to take a seven to ten year hiatus. Then maybe reboot after that. The current timeline is played out.

Not sure if that’s necessary. TV shows do a great job of just forgetting everything thats happened before, we just need a Doctor that is not “painfully cool”.

I still think Rahul Kohli would be a great choice, and pick a few slightly odd ball writers to help set the overall tone.
