Yes in this case! The Amphicar made in West Germany. There are quite a few around in lakeier areas of the United States.

There are some other real ones in Cars and Trucks and Things that Go too.

The Schwimmenwagon (WW2 VW based) and other trucks on the military pages are real vehicles too. I want a Halflinger so bad (canvas cab car/truck. But there are less than a dozen in the US and they’re even pretty rare in Europe when I’ve searched.

Anytime I see one of those silly concept cars that can double as a boat I always ask myself who the hell would want one? It’s just a crappy boat and crappy car duct taped together!

I’m still amazed the cyber truck was advertised as being able to function as a boat, but also can’t get wet.

Edit: apparently this voids your warranty, despite the CEO saying it’s fine.

I think there was an actual production car that did this, I remember seeing it in a movie and also reading some random trivia of a us president enjoying pranking friends by driving into lake.

Yeah the Amphicar and of course it was President Johnson who had one and pranked people. I got to examine one up close, it is a cool little 60s convertible with a retractable clutched propeller, probably super dangerous but looks fun.
