The problem with this software as it exists now, is that I see your message in isolation in ‘messages’, and if I want to see the context I link to the overall thread, then I would have had to scroll down through the entire thread until I found the actual post, which I just did now, but a prolific poster is just not going to do that with every response. It is a glitch in Lenny itself that leads to these confusing return replies.
The problem is, Boost for Lemmy should be built in, not an add on. have a thing about apps riding on other apps riding on other apps. Eventually, security is compromised.
People were seriously downvoting this? People need to be more aware that what used to be common knowledge is not so common in either younger generations or other parts of the world. We should not discourage people from asking genuine questions.
38 upvotes 1 downvote. Theres always going to be people who downvote things. Could be someone who doesn’t realize that system isn’t used everywhere, or maybe their app uses a swipe feature they haven’t turned off. Sometimes when I scroll down I’ll accidentally have it slide left or right and up/downvote something without me ever really noticing it happened. I wouldn’t hate on all of Lemmy because 1 downvote though, seems overzealous
what exactly do these numbers mean?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dewey_Decimal_Classification
And a little about Dewey. He was a bastard.
Conan the Librarian:
Dewey decimal system for finding books on the shelves.
yeah multiple people have answered it by now
Who’s Dewey?
Never been in a library before, huh?
I have. I was making a reference, which is why I linked that video.

I just use Boost for Lemmy. It doesn’t have that problem.

books have category numbers and libraries sort their books by this
Where to find the books, shelves are indexed.
Ah Lemmy, downvoting an honest question. Daddy Reddit would be proud.
Upvoted to offset the stupidity.
As an online community, we’re not here to help, we’re here to judge.
