British Columbia's Green Party says the NDP government needs to "explain why" its proposal for broad-reaching emergency cabinet powers is needed before its two members support the legislation.
I think this is a decent opportunity for the Greens just the same. We’re at the first reading, which is kind of like a legislative draft especially for a law that is brand new and urgent. There’s no better time for a real drive for making BC more self-reliant, green and bring about more progressive change.
I expect this bill to be amended, we should have clearer reporting requirements to legislature at least, and maybe a legislative recourse for abuse of this power.
