Days after U.S. President Donald Trump ordered a pause in sharing U.S. intelligence, the Ukrainian military has reported little effect from that decision on the front.
The pause is likely to have a higher toll on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, experts and military officials say.
. . .
Ukrainian officials said they are working on alternatives with foreign partners. French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu confirmed that France is continuing to provide its intelligence to Ukraine.
“There is nothing unique about the United States’ intelligence capabilities. It is possible to replace them,” Mykhailo Samus, military expert and director of the New Geopolitics Research Network, told the Kyiv Independent.
I’m here. The west bitched out on the ridiculous piecemeal delivery of this and that over years and years over fear of escalation.
We should have gone all in on day one and we failed Ukraine and look incredibly weak still.
So you think Ukraine could’ve retaken Crimea if it received equipment sooner?
I believe that to be true. The frontlines were not well established yet towards the end of 2022 so a push to take back Melitupol would have been possible if they had all the equipment that they used for their push in June 2023. But by then the Russians had dug in and mined the entire frontline and that push (predictably) failed and was abandoned as it would be too costly in lives to continue.
That would have cut the land bridge, which in turn would have enabled the Ukrainians to make Crimea an untenable position (no land bridge, closer to the Kerch strait bridge).
So yes, having the necessary equipment before the Russians were dug in would’ve made a massive difference imo. Not saying they would have retaken it, but their odds would have been a lot more favourable.
Dang. Literally nothing will convince ya’ll that Ukraine can’t win without additional troops.
Truth is the first casualty of war 😬
