It’s about more than the tariffs. It’s about market uncertainty and the US breaking its trade deals. Canada isn’t going to match Trump’s actions in a reactive manner; Canada is going to respond to Trump’s behavior in a manner that protects the future of Canadian sovereignty. It appears this is a response Trump didn’t expect because it’s not a measured response he would have himself.
The only measured response Agent Orange is capable of doing is shitting on a bathroom scale.
That’s a good point. Uncertainty hurts businesses and investors harder than you would think. People will go to extreme lengths to mitigate uncertainty, which usually has a negative impact on the economy. Now Canada is creating certainty about one thing.
Trump’s actions are all over the place, which probably causes lots of uncertainty in the US as well. I have a feeling it’s going to take years to repair the damage he leaves behind.
As an American, good. Make sure policy makers understand even threats have consequences and anyone not working in good faith will not be treated with the same good faith. It will cause problems and hurt here but that’s what happens when you elect a foreign asset conman to take charge.
