Tomorrow I am starting a daily multi-hour protest in front of my GOP representative’s office in NYC.

I love this. Thank you for using your time, energy, physical body and other resources available to you to do something that I believe can and will and does make a difference. Even just posting this you are showing others what is possible, so thank you! I think you are doing great and I wish you safety and success and to be effective in every conversation and encounter.

I am lucky enough to be able to afford some hours every day to this activity and not everyone can do this, but I am posting my small act of civil disobedience to show it’s not crazy to be thinking about it.

@[email protected] thanks, it’s a concern I have for sure. I’ll be wearing my Sunday finest and no face coverings/sunglasses so people can see my happy face. I can deal with lip from people but any physical threats and I will back out and just come back the next day.

          Please consider two things,

Being a little more descriptive of where you will be, so others can join you. This will come at a privacy risk of course, but considering you’re not going to be covering your identity in any way on site, it may be worth it for you.

Bringing something to defend yourself. It doesn’t have to be a gun, but it absolutely can be. It can also be pepper spray, a knife that is easily concealed as to not appear to be a threat, a partner/friend who could potentially help protect you or stand as a witness, etc.

We aren’t at the violence stage of all of this, but I do sincerely believe it is not far away. Number one, protect you, your loved ones, and then your livelihood.

Be safe, and thank you for being a voice for those who can’t.

    sending you encouraging vibes.

be aware, even completely civil nonviolent usage of your constitutional rights can be misconstrued and things might escalate quickly unexpectedly.

be sure to have recording devices that automatically upload. memorize at least one phone number for someone who can help you in case your phone is taken or worst case you are detained. know your rights, review advice from civil liberties orgs so you know when it’s wise to speak or wise to remain silent.

      Seconded.

But also, when it is the cops, it is always wise to shut the fuck up, the only words you should be saying to them if there is any sign of being detained or arrested is:

“Id prefer to not answer any personal questions” or

“I will not answer any questions without my attorney present” or

      “I need an attorney/lawyer”

They are there to look for a reason to fuck you over. They will be your friend, they will lie to you, they will flatter you, they will sell their own mother’s soul if it means they can force a situation in which they can exert more authority over you especially when it comes to protecting the rich and their interests.

      Fuck a cop.

If you want anyone on the GOP to see it you have to put a misleading picture of a fetus on that trifold. Their vision is based on bullshit

Nice! Wish I could do the same but as noted, not everyone can afford to devote time for such awesome activities.

Thats a swing district. I am old enough to remember it going back and forth between dem and republican. Im old enough to remember when maliotakis was an assembly woman.

By all means do this, but orgniaze more people than just yourself so you dont look fringe. There are plenty of progressives in that district
