I don’t think you’re using this meme template correctly lol
I used it yesterday for the first time to get me somewhere I couldn’t afford to be late from bad directions.
It was spot on, so initial impression is good
I’ve been having issues with it, but that could just be the learning curve from having to learn a new interface. But i have found that the search feature to be severely lacking for the rural Ohio towns i travel between every day. I can’t just search “Jim Bob’s appliance store Bowling Green”. It will give me “Jim Bob’s appliance store Sandusky”, their main location no problem, but other locations just dont exist apparently and so i have to look up the actual address online and then put that in to get where i am going. Not a big deal, but very frustrating when i am on a time crunch.
As a contributor to OSM, this is correct. A lot of the rural US is not mapped super well. There just isn’t enough local, updated imagery or mappers in the country.
I’ve found that it does route well, which is again, very difficult in rural areas with vary levels of backroads. I’ve noticed Google has really been slipping in that regards. I think that’s because Google’s fuel efficiency calculations are totally fucked. Google has been trying to send me from tiny and hilly farm roads and back highways rather than the clear shot with just a handful of stops and turns. I think they are just truing to keep your average MPH to a specific number and just assume that os peak efficiency.
One note - OM takes a really long time to plan very long routes; say longer than 10 hours. It isn’r really a problem, and makes sense as it is using local processing nstead of the cloud.
