Thomas Preston, C. O. Johnson distinguished professor of political science at Washington State University, said in an interview Friday that Baumgartner’s position was “shameful” and the administration’s actions that morning were “disturbing.”

“It’s just an utterly disgraceful comment, and it seems that very few Republicans have any sort of courage or fortitude to actually stand up to what is clearly just a vile and disgraceful performance that we saw today in the White House,” Preston said.

Preston characterized the mineral rights proposal as grossly transactional – pay to use Trump’s fire hose or he’ll let Ukraine burn down – and ultimately a “smokescreen” meant to give Trump an excuse to pull out of Ukraine altogether. He argued acquiring the minerals is significantly more uncertain than Trump has claimed and that there appear to be few guarantees for the security for Ukrainians if they sign a deal.

I find it difficult to take someone seriously when their name sounds like a a person that mows lawns on ass.

It becomes exceedingly more difficult when said anal landscaper is a fucking idiot fascist ball licker.

Just how many people, that aren’t Trump/Republican mouthpieces or geopolitical foes, really think Zelenskyy is the one who came off looking bad in that exchange?

Yet another ratings-topping embarrassing episode in this new season of America’s ‘great television’ show.

Just to be clear, the “diplomatic meltdown” was mainly by Trump and Vance, not Zelenskyy, right?

Asked whether the U.S. had itself gone back on its commitments by demanding compensation for aid that was freely given, Baumgartner was unequivocal.

“Be that as it may, (Ukraine has) now twice been ready to sign an agreement and twice backed out at the last second,” Baumgartner said. “And then you had this bizarre descent into public grievance, an argument in the White House in front of the American public, that’s not advantageous to either side.”

Baumgartner doesn’t even deny that the US is “demanding compensation for aid that was freely given” but he’s upset that Zelenskyy isn’t jumping to pay up.

I couldn’t even watch the interaction to the end. I have absolutely no idea how he was so calm about it. I guess I would have been shot by the secret service for trying to strangle Trump or Vance.

Yeah. This could probably go in an “US Politics” community for this ultra niche US stuff.

Nobody knows who TF this guy is so his opinion is pretty irrelevant on the world stage, and pretty low quality ‘news’ to begin with.

What a fucking idiot. Some degenerate from what seems like provincial Washington state is making calls about the leadership of Ukraine?

We should send his family to Pokrovsk (a key frontline town in Donetsk oblast) to do logistics volunteer work.

Hell, they can even come to my apartment in Kyiv. While it’s safe here, I have a feeling they are not going to enjoy daily shahed OWA strike warnings that happen in and around midnight or regular getting ballistic strike warnings at 4 am (and hearing takedowns of said shaheds and ballistic missiles during the night). Or seeing that the building down the street recently got hit my debris from a shahed takedown.

Washington State is where Seattle is, a city that’s bigger than Washington D.C., Las Vegas, Boston, Atlanta…

The problem is that the eastern part of the state (where this guy is from) is basically western Idaho.

“Congressman Michael Baumgartner is currently serving his first term in the U.S. House of Representatives where he represents the people of Washington State’s 5th Congressional District.” https://baumgartner.house.gov/about

He’s a MAGA bootlicker and is unfit for office. What an embarrassment to our nation he is.

It very much feels like all the American politicians getting any significant news coverage, now, are an embarrassment to the country, and the world.

You ALL agree with that by doing nothing. So is having a terrorist as president with the goal of ww3. You are the gun loving country where everyone is armed. The Republicans showed you how it’s done. You on the other hand are just watching you are at least as guilty. Luigi the only person in America with courage.

Edit: This is not to say that I myself would have the courage to act differently. I would just know that I was partly to blame and would not wash my hands of it

Most of us can’t just up an murder the POTUS, and where has Luigi’s courage landed him? I love everything that he’s accused of, but taking down an unguarded, unsuspecting CEO is not overthrowing the US government.

That’s why I made the edit that I wouldn’t be any better in this case, because as an outsider it’s easy to say something like that.

Fuck off. America is huge! I could drive 6 hours in one direction and not leave my state. There’s a lot of people that disagree with the current president’s actions and he’s thousands of miles away from me and many others.

What’s my point again… oh yeah, fuck off. It takes a lot for anyone to do anything in this country.

We need to stand together! Power to the people.

Sure, lets just pretend that it is normal for a US Government to dictate how other countries democratically elected Leaders are chosen and at what terms they have to resign themselfes from their Position, without any regards to said countries peoples will or democratic proceedings.

Who cares what this dumb fuck, green, redneck has to say? It’s not like he’s the leader of Ukraine. The people of Ukraine overwhelmingly support their President.

Unlike the US, where our President has +5 penalty roll to any diplomacy because he’s literally that stupid.
