There’s a huge difference between homebrew (tea, otokonoko etc.) and grey market (like ihp) sources, but the article ignores this. Only in the former case is quality control potentially an issue, and community testing efforts can obviate that considerably. Plus, it’s obvious that the people selling homebrew really know what they’re doing and are working in good faith.
As for medication management, anyone can order a blood test and endos often work off the same publicly available treatment guidelines to which individuals also have access.
Really, the DiY movement is about the democratization of medical care. Articles that try to sow doubts are counterproductive, even if well-intentioned.
