My dude the police aren’t there to “protect the general public from itself”. The police are there to protect capital from the general public.
Vigilante justice is an individual taking justice into their own hands. But an organized resistance group is not vigilante justice. It is revolutionary action.
Luigi was a vigilante. But when half the country agrees with his actions he is no longer a vigilante when that half takes up arms to resist fascism.
We do not need more individual acts. We need organized acts. The US could learn from the successes and mistakes of groups like the IRA right now. That is “what is to be done”.

Primary and secondary goals. If they have to put all their focus on protecting capital, they become unavailable to protect the public. Which is something they DO perform; even if poorly or disproportionately.
But an organized resistance group is not vigilante justice.
Then you’re not arguing for vigilante justice, you’re arguing for organized resistance…
This discussion is about how vigilante justice isn’t the answer. (at least, yet).
