So, we will have Andromeda colliding with us for one SMBH, and then another SMBH added for the lulz.
This galaxy is going to have loads of fun in a few years but not soon enough for us to see LIGO self detonate from these collisions. Turning the volume up to 11 on a super sensitive gravity wave detector would be interesting, me thinks.
since there’s so much empty space, not much actually collides. gravity dragged more like it. probably won’t affect the weather on this little speck, just more stars in the sky
Oh, nothing else in the galaxies may collide, but the SMBHs may eventually kiss after a few million orbits, or one might get shot away to another galaxy far, far away. There is just so much mass in galaxy centers, they should eventually be pulled together bringing the SMBHs within flirting distance.
I don’t know the chances of them getting locked in orbit around each other in a single galaxy but that would be interesting to see.
