I’ve never been happy with Google messages and RCS on my pixel. Decided to look for an alternative and found SMS Organizer from Microsoft which uses plain old SMS add doesn’t send my message data anywhere.

@[email protected] Google messages is E2EE and uses the Signal protocol for encryption. SMS is not secure in any form.
@[email protected] Good info, thanks. Your post prompted me to go away and research the E2E and I’ve ended up switching back for now. The other catch is that my phone network charges for MMS messages.
I doubt anything by Microsoft isn’t sending your data somewhere. A better alternative is Fossify Messages. It is open-source and private (though it might not have some of the more fancy features).
I also like QUIK from F-Droid
This looks good! Installed and test driving it now!
@[email protected] TY. That one looks interesting.
@nickb333 have you tried fossify messages? Also you can also switch to xmpp you family chats and voip calls
Edit : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.fossify.messages@[email protected] MS? lOl they do the same things 😉
@[email protected] I can’t find any details about it sending data to M$. The only it will transfer data off my device is if I configure it to back up to Google Drive.
