Reminder that while these tariffs are the big news item, focus extremely hard on what isn’t being today. Work within your communities and harass the fuck out of your politicians, Republican AND Democrat. Maintenance will be the word for at least two years.
By all means, we must do our best in the next election so we can minimize the damage.
That being said… midterm elections don’t mean shit when the executive oversteps into territory only the legislature is supposed to have control over. How does the President have such wide control over government spending when that’s supposed to be Congress’s constitutional responsibility?
We’re rapidly approaching the complete nullification of the legislature at this point. How long until Palpatine abolishes the Senate?
Because it’s on Congress to push back when another branch oversteps its power, and more than half of it is actively cheering on the destruction of our society. I can’t speak to whether we’ll have free and fair midterms, but if we do, electing leftists to congress would be vital to stymieing the damage quickly.
But, yeah, who knows. That’ll take at least 2 years. MAGA has already done incalculable damage, and it’s been 2 weeks.
Or the court system! Which was packed by Trump, And supposedly presiding over a case where the defendant is the man who gave you the job doesn’t require recusal. Absolutely shameful.

He’s already stealing powers from congress (like funding decisions) and installing his cronies in places of power. I’m not even sure there will be a midterm, but if there is it won’t be free and open. We’re past elections now.
