As more and more cis people realize they care about someone who is trans, the hate train will start to lose steam. I really hope this happens quickly. For myself, some of my absolute favourite people are trans and it’s painful to see what these right-wingers put them through.

That’s what happened for gay people. It’s why they want people in the closet. It’s why areas with high amounts of immigration have less animosity towards immigrants. People are scared of concepts they don’t understand. Especially when propaganda tells them so. They aren’t afraid of people. They care about people.

For me it was literally that my wife and I had a spare room and a trans person was in need. That simple. We’d always talked about offering it up if a situation arose, and then someone on here of all places brought a situation to my attention. (Check my post history if you like, I’m not a prolific poster.)

That was eight months ago. They’re part of our lives now, and I’m trying to learn what I need to do to continue to fight for them. Here in the United fucking States.

Which is why the right do everything to prevent folks from even communicating with trans individuals and to get trans people in the closet.

They know if people will be open, this will be a game over for the bigots.
