Yeah, Star Wars is so much more likely what would happen - i.e. slavery to a capitalisic totalitarian regime in space, ruled over by a vaguely religious overlord.
Whereas Star Trek is what we wish for - I guess fistfights and cute Tribbles? It’s still slavery where only the redshirts die, but it’s easier to pretend that’s not the case, and by TNG it’s arguably already not anymore? Although we didn’t realize that it was on the backs of the forerunner to the EMH doing all the dirty work:-P.
