Exclusive: Experts believe the alleged ‘shuttle support’ program used by Uline – a company owned by billionaires Liz and Dick Uihlein – is likely illegal and exploitative of workers
Take a look at the US construction industry. You’ll find example after example of anti-immigrant construction workers. You’ll also find that a huge number of companies which employ those anti-immigrant workers also employ immigrants illegally.
The industry ultimately cannot function without the illegal labor. That’s why if you ask one of the anti-immigrant workers “why don’t we just penalize the companies which use this labor illegally?” you’ll always get crickets.
The elephant in the room is that no American citizens want these jobs – at least not at the rates the immigrants make.
Did IT on the side for a guy that owned a roofing company. Racist as hell, stolidly conservative, and would send his guys to Home Depot in the morning to pick up however many “beaners” were needed. He saw zero contradiction in voting for anti-illegal politicians. Zero.
The more precarious the situation is for undocumented immigrants, the more they can exploit them. That’s why they rail against sanctuary cities. They know they’re never going to be able to deport everyone or stop the flow of people crossing the border, they don’t even really want that. But they do want to be able to instantly have anyone deported that agitates for fair pay or anything else. Preferably by separating them from their family.
Extremely common.
