Putin seems even more reckless with the North Koreans he bought. Not that it’s surprising, but it’s baffling even from a resource management standpoint. Those soldiers aren’t infinite; the faster they die, the faster he will need to purchase more or send more of his own troops to die. Even just giving them the Chinese golf carts would have been an improvement in some of the recent videos where they are crossing open fields on foot.

If all the posts about NK not caring about their soldiers and only the tech knowledge they are gaining in exchange, that’s probably a best case scenario for NK.
Could be a condition for receiving more supplies from Russia and China.
From Russia, probably. China doesn’t really like North Korea buddying up with Russia.
Russian ICBM technology. North Korea wants it and is willing to sacrifice their troops in meat wave attacks.
And a large amount of money and grain.
North Korea is getting valuable information on how modern wars are fought. They do no care about the deaths, they only need a few to return with meaningful info to train others.
This is not sympathy or defence of their actions, only one benefit NK is getting from this.

And they can send all the screw-ups and dissidents from their army into the meat grinder.
