Why would auth left be for Assad?
There are a lot of tankies who are pro-Assad. He’s nominally (emphasis on the nominal) secular and socialist, and he’s hated by the West. That’s more than enough.

From what I gather, authright tends to side with the Islamists (you know, religious right wing values).
