Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced Wednesday that lawmakers in the state Senate would move to ban all forms of consumable tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, in Texas.

These products are only taxed the 6.25 percent Texan sales tax. They aren’t losing out on much
Michigan made almost $300 million last year just on weed, and this year is looking even higher. Texas has a population 3x that of MI. If they legalize it fully and tax like alcohol and tobacco they would be missing out on a lot more. But whatever, we should give Texas to Mexico.

Almost every legal state adds an additional tax for cannabis products. For example, Michigan charges an additional 10% on top of the regular sales tax that applies
But that’s not what we are talking about. We are talking about Delta 8 and other cannibinoid products that were legalized by Republicans with the farm bill. These products became legally available, overnight nationally when that passed.
Next time I hear a rightie tell me how Texas is a “free state”…

Citation needed buddy. A little THC doesn’t seem to threaten anyone’s life. Someone can die from an alcohol OD but dying from THC requires another condition or activity that is going on, and thus due to inebriation the death occurs. This is still at a rate far lower than alcohol, a legal substance.
