The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 3.3% on a year-over-year basis in July, following a 2.8% increase in June. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the CPI rose 0.5% in July.

    Last year I kept hearing that buying 5% GICs wouldn’t beat inflation and I kept saying that the inflation numbers are for the last year, not the next year. Here we are well under 5%.

      You still can get a 5.5% 1 year GIC at the moment, not that bad of a deal if you plan on putting some money into GIC.
