Hello!
I live in the parts of Canada where we have dark and cold winters, and I spend a lot of time on unlit highways.
I feel like the OEM halogens don’t cut it for those long drives. I’m looking for:
- A high quality LED bulb that will be durable
- That won’t blind others (good light pattern)
- Ideally matches the DRL LED in colour temperature (maybe 9000k?)
Some people have recommended light bars, but they are very much illegal here on public roads.
TIA!
I don’t have specific information, but if you want to switch from halogen lights you will also have to replace the reflectors to keep your lights from blinding others.
It’s a projector beam, not a reflector, I don’t believe there’s anything to be replaced but I could be wrong as there is a mirror in there.
What I heard is you have to pick the right LEDs for your specific projectors.
If the mirror does have to be replaced, where would I start looking?
You’ll want a thin PCB for the LEDs to be able emit light in a pattern as close as possible to the filament in a halogen bulb. Here’s the video I watched when shopping for LED bulbs for a CN7: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nnD_sDWNjEw
Here’s another video that goes into more detail and also talks about cooling: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FPcE-fWHmww
Thank you, very informative videos! Incidentally, I’ve been recommended the DD SL2 Pro with a DD canbus anti-flicker module by a local shop. The video gives high praise to the SL1, so I’m hopeful the SL 2 will be better!
EDIT: I just purchased the SL2, will update the main post once they are installed!
