First, what do you think communist means?
Second, you have the choice and flexibility to turn such messages off.
Third, if you donate to KDE you are supporting an open and free software, if you spend money on Microsoft you’re lining the pockets of a large company.
KDE might get more donations if they note their plan to seize the means of production in that little popup
Fourth: people complained about when it launched too!
It’s not because it exists once (Microsoft is full ads instead of only one) that it’s the consensus either. Look at Gnome and cinnamon (among others)
But… at least my games will run :p
