Poor people brain is a fuck. I’ll think, I could just get it delivered, but then I think, oh, it’s not THAT far. You really want to pay someone to bring it to you when you could just get it yourself? Is that a good use of your money? And then I just go get it.

I mean, for me, it doesn’t make any sense to have food from a sit-down restaurant, or from a place with a drive-thru delivered. Like, you go to a sit-down restaurant both for the food & because it’s a place to go that’s not your house or work. With drive-thru, yeah you’re not investing a significant amount of time getting the food, nor do you have to co-ordinate ordering it, and then remembering to go pick it up (an issue for me, cause of ADHD/ASD). But with pizza it’s so ubiquitous, and you usually do have to order it before picking it up, it kind of just makes more sense to have it delivered I guess? I mean I know people who don’t have it delivered, but they always buy from like Little Ceasars or something, which is fair because they have pre-made pizzas, so it’s like drive-thru, but if you weren’t going for that, idk delivery doesn’t seem that much more expensive? IDK.

I should say that I very rarely actually eat anything that I didn’t cook myself anyways, so shrug-outta-hecks

Oh yeah, it’s not a decision based in logic. It’s just been burned into my brain as being a waste of money and now I find it completely unrelaxing to pay someone else to bring me pizza or whatever.

pizza’s gotten so much more expensive in my city that adding $5+ for delivery and a tip for the delivery person just puts it into “I simply can’t justify this” price territory. Plus the places that are cheap are not close by nor do they taste good. Dominos is so bready and dehydrating that I can’t do it anymore and most other places aren’t near as cheap. So I bike or walk to the 1 or 2 places that are close by and then I can afford to tip the cooks not just the delivery driver.

I grew up in the middle of nowhere so delivery services never reached me, then I became a student who was (and still is) too poor to pay the extra four bucks or so for delivery. If I’m getting takeaway there’s so many local restaurants and places I pass on my commute to college that it just makes no sense to get delivery

honestly I grew up able to afford takeout and we still did this, and I mostly do to this day. The only time I order delivery is like, if I’m having people over and don’t want to leave for 20+ mins to go pick something up, or if I’m too intoxicated to drive (and nowadays I’m liable to bike or walk even then). If I can’t even be bothered to go pick up the food I probably don’t need it and should just go to bed.
