Yesterday, Twitch suspended an account that belonged to streamer and famous YouTuber Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt after he made racist comments about the death of Palestinians in Gaza. Now, the YouTuber has responded to the temporary ban with a surprisingly clear-eyed assessment of the controversy and what led up to it.

“I don’t really want to mince words or, ‘oh I wasn’t justifying or promoting [the genocide],’” He said during a new 20-minute long video on the subject. “I said something about it that was disgusting.”

I’m not saying he’s lying, but maybe give it a moment before rewarding someone for doing basic damage control after doing/saying something heinous. Redemption isn’t an instantaneous process.

If you’re going to argue in bad faith, you should at the very least understand the words in the comment and how they are being used.

So your reaction to Asmon saying something kinda fuckin racist and then recanting, as opposed to just not saying the racist thing in the first place, is to give him more of your attention?

People like him get popular by manufacturing controversy.

Your reaction to someone saying they support someone admitting to a mistake making an attempt at rehabilitation is to put them down, then insinuate that a mistake being made also makes it unforgivable?

The real question is did he do this sincerely or because it is hurting him financially. I am all up for forgiveness, etc. but only if this sudden self awareness is authentic.

Its not a controversy to support Israel… Its just the Twitter and lemmy leftists that think it is.
