Dang, they had to rent the whole VCR in Calvin’s household?
In Scandinavia, in the 80s, I remember we had the moviebox, a little VCR in “suitcase” you could rent.
From what I remember it only had an RF output, and the picture quality was less than stellar, even for VHS.
We did as well.
Yeah, it was pretty common at the time. Before China was used for all manufacturing, everything but especially especially electronics were expensive to buy.
I think we got our vcr in 89 and it was a hand me down from my grandparents.
We never rented a VCR, but we did rent a Sega Genesis from the blockbuster several times.
