    Just noticed that 90% of the bosses in elden ring are actively making it inhospitable through the act of accruing enough power to eventually fix the place completely. It’s just a clusterfuck of “the ends justify the means.” There are like 4 active, incidental genocides in elden ring that we see. Who knows how many more are lurking in the background.

      I mean, yeah that’s kinda the point of the game right? The Lands Between are so fucked that literally anyone, even a lowly Tarnished of no renown, is a better option as a Lord than what they currently have.

        Not quite. There’s a fair chance that the tarnished, swept up in yet another facet of the gods’ machinations, just happened to hitch their buggy to Melina and become elden lord. The lore is far from straightforward enough to actually define the true purpose of the tarnished. Not to mention the last minute rewrights. At first glance, the gods just seem like dicks. Took me a while to realize that they’re nearly all just disillusioned.
