Baldur’s Gate 3 may be a fantastic fantasy RPG, but Larian Studios also decided to follow an annoying PC gaming trend that could have been avoided.

It’s a launcher, if you aren’t interested in clicking through.

And I agree. No reason for this game to have a launcher.

It’s also trivial to skip the launcher by adding --skip-launcher to the Launch Options.

I am going to try this tomorrow. But I have to figure out a way to default to Vulkan without launcher.

You can change your launch options to "install location/bin/bg3.exe" %command% to both disable the launcher and launch in vulkan mode. Use bg3_dx11.exe for the dx11 version.

However, use caution, when I tried this, it did launch without launcher using Vulkan, but I didn’t have access to my saves for some reason. I switched back and may saves are back again. So, not sure what’s up with that.

There might be another command line option for using vk instead of dx. I’m not sure of that though.
