    I have: news

I thought on the TAFE situation some more and decided to see if I’d pass the assessment for the dual cert 4 in AOD/Community services, and if I didn’t, I was going to look elsewhere for the cert 3 I wanted in the first place.

An hour of stressing over not knowing what I’m doing and what to answer with later, I finished the LLN assesment and got a phone call from the course lady. Apparently I don’t quite meet the general entry requirements, but that given the nature of the course, I have a sufficient level to still understand what’s happening. Apparently TAFE (or at least this TAFE) don’t do binary pass/fails for their entry tests, it’s either fine or needs work.

With that said, I’ve now been offered a place in the new course, so as long as they don’t cancel this one too, I should be starting the same day as the last one (in 7 days). Do I know what I’m doing? No. But I hope I’ll figure it out soon…

But for some bad news, I think I’m going to take a little break from Lemmy for a while. With everything that’s been going on in my real life, I’ve found myself being more thin skinned and easily agitated than usual. Normally most things (particularly online) don’t phase me all too much, but it’s beginning to feel like I’m a camel that’s a few straws away from a broken back. So for the sake of my own sanity, and not lashing out at people who don’t deserve it, I’m going to take a short mental health break. I’ll be back in a couple of weeks probably

there was a time span, about 15 years, when the age was good and it was all due to one man, Ranald McDonald, who aspired to have a great newspaper with good journalism. The age was crap before him and after.

he was eventually shuffled out then went to work for 3LO for a few years.

his 3LO show was interesting, he was so trusted whistle blowers used to call him up on air!!

There are two I still remember. The whistle blower who said that there were gangs of shop thieves to order. One of the shop owners happened to be listening and a big investigation ensued. That was Fabian Dattner shops, she went on to be an activist/do gooder.

Another whistle blower was a buyer from coles/myer who said they had instructions to always buy from china and ignore australia manufacturers. Even when the prices from Australia were cheaper. The purpose was to drive small manufacturers out and reduce competition. Nothing came of that call.

I should add that at the time the age had a good board but then there was a boardroom coup

Looked at ndis as I need help with disability. The sheer amount of doctors letters, assessments etc required is going to be insane, stressful and probably costly into the thousands. Then there’s the long wait times (over 6 months to get a response) Hardly accessible. Im struggling so hard to stay employed - wfh was so great for disabled people and now the return to office mandates has my job being threatened. It has no actual physical requirement (tech) but they insist that going into the office for “connection” with the internal team (who is across multiple states anyway ) is a “mandatory business requirement”.

Fucking joke at the expense of my health declining even further.

Would it be possible to get a dr’s letter to say you should work from home, do you think? It might be at least a temporary solution while getting the ndis sorted.

Did that to reduce to 1 day a week. But it doesn’t help during flare ups, at which point they want detailed medical info each time and end dates /durations/return to work plans . It doesn’t work like that unfortunately.

I just want to be productive and work - but at home so I can deal with my symptoms as needed and not be on public display. Plus the exertion of travel and being in an office all day. Sigh.

This is a good idea, to talk to your dr and get a med cert for reasonable adjustments. The reasonable adjustments being WFH full time due to an underlying disability. If you’re part of a union, give them a call and talk to a rep for advice :)

NDIS is unrelated to workplace disability laws. If you need accomodations at work due to disability, you can approach HR at your workplace to discuss your needs. Maybe have a look at fairwork Australia website to see what the rules are and how to make a request.

      Some info here

I know that- they created a business requirement so now wfh doesn’t meet their job role requirements, so now you’re fired or going into work unwell.

Adjustment means they can make exceptions if your disability requires it. The job requirement part depends on the reasons, eg if being present is an inherent part of the job, (it would be impossible to be a hairdresser via zoom), then the adjustment can be refused. But if it’s only for social reasons, there may be some flexibility. You don’t know until you ask! It’s also possible that the employer can make the adjustment at the workplace. For example if a person can’t use stairs, and building doesn’t have a lift, then make sure they are situated only on ground floor and all meetings are held in accessible rooms etc. I know it’s not always easy to approach employer and some of them might be dismissive of requests. But… if it’s a choice between suffer and maybe have to quit work, or ask and possibly get some accomodations there’s no harm at all in asking.

I’m so sorry to hear this is happening to you, especially them changing the requirements after you started there. It’s not fair at all, and I hope they come to their senses or that you can find something better.

Reading my journal from a year ago and I was upset because I had sent my ex a reel that my friend had sent to me saying, “Have some virtual flowers, you deserve it.”

He had replied back saying to send some good quality memes instead. Dude didn’t like the tiniest hint of sap. I am very glad I’m not with someone I’m incompatible with anymore and that I’m not upset over such a stupid thing. Peace ✌️ :)

Mrs stole my Xbox so I dusted off the PS3 and hooked it up to an old tv to play some of the best games ever: Ratchet and Clank. Just finished a crack in time and really want to get back into some Up Your Arsenal and Rift Apart when I get my copies back from the brother in law. I know I played Rift Apart, but it must’ve been early days with the kid cause I remember basically none of it. Dont remember much of Tears of the Kingdom either…

I’ve got the Spyro trilogy on switch and ps4.

I wish they’d remaster the original ratchet and clank trilogy. It’s something that didn’t catch my attention when it first came out and I really want would like them updated.

its crazy it isnt playable on PS5. You can stream it apparently, but its pretty broken. Having to pull out the ps3 when my XSX plays 360 games is kind of bonkers.

I have spent a small fortune over the last couple of days. Organisation supplies for the bathroom and grocery/pet food/cleaning supplies mostly. Once Miss Meow’s vet visit is over this morning I might have to glue my wallet shut!
