I like it. I think the drillevator missions are a change from the other mission types. Looking for the crystals is kind of annoying, but it always seems to cause the team to separate and that can lead to more danger. I think the drillevator phase should have more bugs that can attack from a distance to make it more intense, that part always seems to be pretty easy except for the very first time when we didn’t have enough enough ammo. I like the Core stone event and the unique enemy types. It feels like the Ommeran Heartstone missions are tougher on haz 5, not a complaint, I just don’t totally understand the phase where it turns red and small bubbles of stone pop up. I like that you can play previous seasons, I only started at the beginning of last season. I haven’t gotten to play around with the new overclocks yet. Overall I can’t really complain.

The new ommoran phase is as follow:

The stone will target a random dwarf and encase them in a prison if they’re standing still, reducing the team’s dps for a bit. It also does heavy damage to the drilldozer if the dwarf is standing on it when it happens. This is to discourage camping on the drilldozer.

That’s all there is to it.

I didn’t think there was much to it but I didn’t understand how it attacks Dotty, that makes a lot more sense. That’s also why I mentioned it, because I figured someone would be able to explain it. Thanks!!

I like it, especially the season selector.

I only have one gripe with the Deep Scan mission, and that’s no fault of the game, but because I’m constantly looking straight up during the drillevator phase, I end up subconsciously slightly looking up IRL, and I have quite the crick in my neck now lmao.

I haven’t seen season 1 or 2 or unseasoned yet, but 5 is much better than 4. I hope this trend of just adding more to what alteady exists continues, like another dreadnought, another machine event, more secondaries, more cave layout variations, all good.

As for the actual season content, the Drillivator is a very nice point defense variant in that it’s also moving and has cover. Salvage’s Uplink/Fuel Cells has always felt snowbally, in that it gets way harder if dwarves go down, and there usually isn’t much cover (skill issue, I know). Escort has the drilling sections, which encourage dwarves splitting up and can really frontload difficulty when drilling into a cave (korlok + spitballer + leach = FUn!). Sabotage has the hacking parts, where Hack-C finds the least convenient location to drop, and usually gets suprise glyphids up his ass. The Drillivator actually feels a lot like meteor cracking, but in a much smaller area and without crackers landing on cliffs. Altogether I quite like it, and I need to learn how to leverage the hand drills during the scanning section.

The Core Stone is quite interesting. Crawlers are a nightmare to deal with, especially right at the beginning, but I think there’s a big wave right at the start, so focusing on the crawlers rather than the Core might be the way to go. The rift spawing looks incredible, and the Core rebuilding it’s Stone reminds me of the Ommoran Hearstone in the best way, with all the floating shards. I was worried about the crawlers being too hyper realistic body horror when I saw the concept art, but they fit in really well!

All in all, I’m having lots of fun, and it looks like the dwarvelopers are too. It makes me very curious about Rogue Core!

I haven’t seen season 1 or 2 or unseasoned yet

FYI, when you’re done with S5 there is an option to switch the season you’re playing. It resets your progress AFAIK

I’m enjoying it so far. The new mobs are fun and mix well with the others. The new cave type for the morkite seed missions is confusing though, I keep getting lost in them. Hopefully they’ll start making sense soon.

When played the first new mission type, I was utterly confused how to read the UI and where to look for the crystals.

It’s maybe a bit too easy since the enemies come very very predictably from one direction, which makes it very easy to clear them.

Otherwise it’s fine. The new overclocks seem interesting-ish, I haven’t tried any of the ones I have unlocked yet, but It’s super hard to come up with new, balanced variations on the same gun when there already is a skill tree and 6 other choices.

I like the new cosmetics, particularly from the season pass.

So yeah, pretty good! Definitely at the level of the others at least. And it’s more content. Not that I needed an excuse to play more…

I’m not too impressed so far. The drillevator mission is ok with 3, really annoying with 5 crystals to find. A better indicator as to where to find them exactly would be nice, sometimes you dig like one meter next to them and simply can’t find them.

Lost 2 escort missions due to people not knowing the new mechanic and not listening to ingame advice. That’s a lot of time going to waste.

The core stone is ok on some classes, others really struggle with the mobs cause they are tough to kill. I also realised that most people don’t know what to do still, so it will get better with time.

Getting a lot of disconnects since this season, yesterday right on the way to extraction - yet another real waste of time that gets really offputting. Yes, I could host every single mission myself, but if everybody does that, there’s not much coop left.

Love it! The new mission type is fun, and the core event is snappy and intense, much less annoying than the lithophage corruptors.

It’s great, but I feel there should be more enemies during the drill phase. Or maybe add more openings for enemies to flood out of.

Reall liking the new weapon frameworks though I haven’t rolled any new overclocks yet. The drillevator is probably my favourite defense type objective though it can get hairy in rival presence missions without a gunner or the perk that lets you force it to release you. The core stone event is cool though fairly easy to trivialize.

    • Driller: commit warcrimes, win.
    • Gunner: hang out on a zipline and shoot the crystal, run around it in circles when it needs breaking, win.
    • Scout: zipline around and shoot the crystal, run around it in circles when it needs breaking, win
    • Engineer: place turrets by crystal, run for your life while they shoot the crystal, run around it in circles when it needs breaking, win.

As a gunner main, using a combat zipline does indeed make the crawlers trivial. All other combats I at least have to worry about glyphids with ranged attacks knocking me off.

It might be freaky to have crawlers, or maybe a specific variant which can crawl right onto the zipline after me.
