It is a great show, but definitely not the best on TV. There is a few things holding it back, the look is bit bland and the plot has a bit too much plot armour and lack of progression.

Very etertaining for sure, probably better in its own universe. Gen V is a great addition we would not have got from DC.

The show is a lot better than the source material, and honestly it would not work in the DC universe.

Garth Ennis made it as edgy as possible because he actually fucking hates superheroes. The whole point of the Boys is that absolute power corrupts, but his exploration of the theme involves a lot of pointless swearing and copious amounts of rape. How are we going to know somebody is bad if they don’t commit sexual violence?

The show toned a lot of things down.

Yeah I read crossed a long time ago out of morbid curiosity. Imagine my shock when I found out the show was based on a comic by the same guy. Thank god kripke was in charge.

I love the show but the big problem I have with it is the pacing.

I hate when shows have slow scenes just to fill the time but…this show could really use some. The last season was non-stop action without many quiet moments of character growth, just go go go

I think it is fast paced to a reset. They have been neck and neck with the baddie for seasons now and it needs closure. A season could have been skipped.

For me the power scaling got ruined. At the beginning my impression was all supers where captain america level of invulnerability and strength where homelander was super man. Ie he can effortlessly kill an army of supers.

In the last season butcher just tanked homelander’s punches and he almost beat him with the help of Maeve. All his threat is simply gone and leads to the question why didnt a small group of supers just kill him already?

That would have sucked. We have enough “What if Superman but bad?” stories already and most of the time they feel contrived. Making Homelander his own character allows him to do things without having to worry about whether or not it it would be in character for Superman.
