Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted there will be no permanent ceasefire in Gaza until Hamas’s military and governing capabilities are destroyed and all hostages are released. His statement comes after US President Joe Biden announced Israel had proposed a three-stage plan to Hamas aimed at reaching a permanent ceasefire. A senior Hamas politician has told the BBC it “will go for this deal” if Israel does. The negotiations come as fighting continues in Rafah, with reports of Israeli air strikes on Saturday in the city on Egypt’s border with Gaza. There is no guarantee that the public pressure by Mr Biden on both Israel and Hamas to accept the plan will result in a deal.
“Until war aims achieved”
Alright I know the statement is one that’s very dependent on context, but… man, that phrase could have come right out of Putin’s mouth circa 2022 while he was trying to justify his invasion of Ukraine.
He’s basically saying “we’ll stop shooting once they’re all dead”.
He and other Israeli leaders can keep saying it and their supporters will continue to say it’s not a genocide
Biden needs to mandate a reassessment from the State Department immediately.
After news of suppression of intelligence, Biden proposed the ceasefire. The agreement would have allowed him to have direct oversight of the negotiations between Israel and Hamas and ensure they remained within international law.
Without the ceasefire, he’s back to relying on a compromised intelligence report and congressional support for munitions supply. Deviation from both of these branches would certainly land him in an impeachment trial for acting in bad faith.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
The final phase would see the remains of any deceased Israeli hostages returned, as well as a “major reconstruction plan” with US and international assistance to rebuild homes, schools and hospitals, Mr Biden said.
It wants a guarantee that the Israeli military will not return to Gaza after the hostages are released, and the offer does just that. This will, without a doubt, face opposition in Israel.Mr Biden tried to address those concerns by saying that Hamas had been so degraded that it did not have the ability to carry out another major attack on Israel. He acknowledged, however, that not everyone in Israel would accept the deal, but urged the government to resist pressure. Those who are likely to be against the plan include far-right members of Mr Netanyahu’s coalition, who have previously threatened to quit in case of any deal that would see the end of the war before the destruction of Hamas.
This omission may allow Mr Netanyahu to reject criticism that the deal offers major concessions to Hamas.Israel has ramped up attacks in the key city of Rafah in recent weeks, claiming operational control over the entire border with Egypt.

The destruction of Hamas military and governing capabilities, [and] the freeing of all hostages.
This is the same as the terms on Oct. 8. What world does anyone think that Israel will leave while an armed Hamas is still holding hostages and running Gaza?

Fucking read that. Netanyahu isn’t fucking interested in the hostages, only with wanton destruction of Palestine. When the fuck are you people going to open your fucking eyes?? Does all of the civilian population of Gaza need to be fucking wiped out before you people will admit that what’s fucking happening is unacceptable.
Where did you get destruction of Palestine from that one?
The core part of the article is that he won’t order it to stop until opinion polls say its best for him.
Still fucking wrong, no need to add your own beliefs into it.
This is your regularly scheduled reminder that Israel actively funds Hamas, and helped them defeat their domestic opposition.
Netanyahu has the option of a more peaceful partner, but he didn’t want that. He wanted the more violent people in charge, and as far as I know, is still helping them stay in power. The whole theater where he’s concerned about what happens to the hostages is a whole heap of bullshit.
Here’s a video of one of his allies trying to visit an Israeli hospital, and a family member and a doctor who just spent time dealing with wounded or dying people because of their policies screaming at her to get the fuck out. Which she does, not looking at all upset by the carnage or their reaction, just kind of inconvenienced.

Most don’t have so much of an issue with that.
They DO have an issue with genocide and his attempting exterminate all Palestinians
