Go should be great for such a software, but it very much sounds like it will be hard to self-host (not because of Go, but the new owncloud architecture). Furthermore Owncloud became very much an open-core business model after the Nextcloud people left.

Pydio by the way also recently got a new Golang backend and is worth a look. But also somewhat open-core now sadly.
